We drove out to Halong Bay, the drive took about 4 hours and the weather wasn’t too good. I was hoping that the weather would improve but unfortunately it didn’t. Despite the weather Halong Bay still looked beautiful and mysterious in the fog. The boat drove for around 45 minutes and then we all had lunch together and then went to see a cave in one of the mountains that juts up out of the water. It was visually amazing although a bit touristy, I can’t complain though as you probably would never get to see anything like this in England.
We all had dinner together and then we could choose between karaoke or squid fishing, I chose squid fishing but didn't catch anything. We spent our last day and night at Halong Bay hanging out with an American couple who were just finishing their holiday, Warren and Cherie are a great couple and I took a shine to them almost immediately. We spent the last night playing drinking games (I only had two bottles of beer) and the last day we went to a water market and then onto a small boat through a cave into the middle of one of the mountains that sticks out of the water. It wasn't the best trip I have had but as my buddy James told me ‘Enjoy the good times, and enjoy the bad’ he couldn't have said it better! I’m now back in Hanoi for two nights and we are preparing our next move, sadly we will be leaving Nick behind which is a real shame he is a really good guy but will be heading back to Amsterdam soon.
