New Year in Hanoi

We have had quite a few heavy days drinking in Hanoi, it was Steves birthday on the 30th December so we had a heavy night drinking and then pretty much did the same if not more on New Years Eve. I made myself a few New Years resolutions.

1. No drunken facebooking.
2. Slow down the drinking.

I don't want the drinking to spoil my enjoyment of travelling and at the moment it seems to be doing that. Not that I'm not enjoying myself it's the hangovers and the ''I don't remember doing that moments''. I've had some great nights out but it's the moments when you wake up and have that instant chilling moment when you think did I really do/say that... if you want to see evidence of the nights out hop over to my facebook page and look at some of the pictures, all the worse ones are stored on my hard drive but there are some pretty messed up ones on there. (Picture below courtesy of Steven and Nick)

Tomorrow we head over to Halong bay for 3 nights 2 days on a boat, I can't wait to get out of the city for a bit and chill out and get my head straight. Lloyd and I will then probably plan our next move, I think Steven (our new Dutch friend) will be coming with us but we may sadly have to say goodbye to Nick. Its sad as we have all been travelling together since Chang Mai. That's the problem with travelling you meet really cool people then have to part ways but I guess that's the way it is.

Today we went to the Hanoi Hilton, a prison that was in use when the French came to Vietnam, it was all very interesting and some parts very sad. The Vietnamese also used it when they captured American prisoners during the Vietnam war. One part which really disturbed me was seeing the guillotine, the French used to execute prisoners in the prison. I've seen some really good museums since being in Hanoi and tonight we are going to see a water puppet show which should be interesting. I've posted some pictures below of the prison museum. My next post won't be for a while as I dare say I may not have internet connection from Halong Bay.
